KIND Welcomes New Board of Directors

KIND Board of Directors Co-chairs Brad Smith and Angelina Jolie presided over KIND's first board meeting in June to great success.

Smith and Jolie welcomed the prestigious new members: philanthropist Howard Buffett; former Lost Boy of Sudan John Bul Dau; Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sonia Nazario; migration expert and Migration Policy Institute co-founder Kathleen Newland; former Assistant Secretary of State Ellen Sauerbrey; and former Member of Congress and partner at Holland & Knight Gerry Sikorski.

These Board members joined KIND's founding Board members, Pamela Passman,Treasurer, and Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Microsoft Global Corporate Affairs; and Lydia Tamez, Secretary, and Corporate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Microsoft Global Corporate Affairs. Ronald Schechter, a partner at Arnold & Porter, joined KIND's Board a short time after the meeting. You can read their bios here.

The Board members expressed enthusiasm to be a part of KIND's work.

"This is a great day for KIND and for the cause of protecting unaccompanied children in the United States," said Board Co-chair Brad Smith. "We are extremely fortunate to have such stellar board members with a great diversity of experience and expertise."

John Bul Dau told fellow Board members what KIND meant to him. "As a Lost Boy of Sudan, I feel that I am a member of the tribe of unaccompanied children, and I am happy to be here."
