KIND on the Move in Los Angeles with Holland & Knight

kind on the move 246x184In another show of significant support to KIND, Holland & Knight invited KIND to its noteworthy Open House reception, which was attended by more than 400 people, including  immigration judges,  government officials, and pro bono attorneys. The event, which celebrated the firm's relocation to the Mellon Bank Center in Downtown Los Angeles, was an exceptional opportunity for KIND to catch up with supporters and to introduce KIND to potential new friends. KIND is grateful that Holland & Knight has taken us with them to the new building and again provided us with terrific office space.

In addition to being KIND's host in Los Angeles since our founding, the firm has been a champion of KIND in the provision of pro bono representation.  Almost every attorney at Holland & Knight's offices in Los Angeles is handling a KIND case.  The firm's successes include winning a case for a young girl from Taiwan who is now attending UCLA, and recently, a senior litigator was able to get an order from the family court for a young girl from El Salvador, the first important step in the process of receiving special immigrant juvenile status.  Holland & Knight's pro bono coordinator, Stacey Wang (pictured at left), sets up workshops for associates working on KIND cases so they and KIND's pro bono coordinators can share and discuss case approaches and strategies.

In addition, Holland & Knight hosted one of KIND's first events, which featured KIND Board Members Angelina Jolie and Brad Smith at a gathering of attorneys in Los Angeles.

In the coming months, Stacey will be putting together materials that will help replicate Holland & Knight's partnership with KIND in Los Angeles in other firm offices around the country.

Stacey's tireless support, and that of Holland & Knight as a whole, is key to KIND's success in Los Angeles.
