KIND works with federal agencies to ensure that policy, practice, and procedure reflect the protections unaccompanied children are granted under U.S. law.
KIND works with the Department of Homeland Security and its agencies – US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in this work, as well as with the Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of State.
KIND advocates with these agencies on the full implementation of the William Wilberforce Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. Many of the provisions of this bill are key to ensuring the safety, well-being, and fair treatment of unaccompanied children in the United States.
