The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) announced today that they have formed a partnership to help provide pro bono representation to children who come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. Approximately 8,000 children who come alone to the United States each year are placed in U.S. custody and must face immigration proceedings; more than half must do so without a lawyer.
